Streambank Stabilization November 2017

The City of Goodlettsville, in partnership with the Cumberland River Compact, will begin a streambank stabilization project in Moss-Wright Park in November.  The project will begin on Friday, November 10, 2017 and will cause portions of the trail to be closed during mobilization of equipment and resources, and during certain times of construction.

The area that will be affected is located around the soccer field complex.  “Many people use the trail at Moss-Wright Park and we understand that closures affect their daily routine.  This project has been long awaited and is much needed to keep the bank from continuing to erode into Mansker’s Creek,” says Amy Mitchell, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Goodlettsville.  Data collected from the Cumberland River Compact estimates that the bank is eroding at 3-6” a year and may be contributing several hundred to thousands of cubic feet of sediment to the creek each year.
